This recipe was always done with leftover grits. Nothing was ever thrown away. We loved this with fried ham and Creole tomato slices. Syrup on them is great too.
Cut the grits into square cakes. Dip them into a milk and egg batter, then roll in flour. Fry grits in deep fat until golden, 5 to 6 minutes.
