The Egyptian meat pie is a popular crowd-pleaser. Traditionally, Aswanis use roqaq dough - thin, dried sheets of dough that can be either homemade or store-bought. For ease and convenience, our recipe uses filo pastry as a substitute, and the result is a mildly spiced meat pie loved by all.
In a large frying pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat and sauté the garlic until fragrant. Add the onion and cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until translucent. Add the ground beef and stir to break it up with a wooden spoon.
