Guava grows wild along the banks of the Nile, producing fruit so perfumed that its scent wafts through the air for miles. In this recipe we transform ripe guava into a sweet, creamy drink by blending it with yogurt, a splash of zesty lemon and a hint of vanilla.
Peel the guava, then cut in half. Place the fruit in a blender and add the sugar and 250ml (9fl oz/1 cup) water. Blend on low speed until smooth. Strain the juice through a fine-meshed sieve (strainer) to remove all seeds, then rinse out the blender.
Return the strained juice to the clean blender and add the yogurt, lemon juice and vanilla. Blend on high speed for 30 seconds. Pour into
