A traditional yogurt-based dish from Coorg, Mange Pajji is a sweet, tangy, and mildly spicy mango raita with coconut and green chiles. The first time I tasted this raita in Coorg, I was amazed at how well it paired with simple rice dishes. It’s the perfect blend of sweet mangoes, creamy yogurt, and aromatic spices!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups plain yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • Kosher salt

Method

In a large mixing bowl, add the yogurt, sugar, and salt, to taste. Whisk until smooth.

In a separate bowl, make a smooth paste of the coconut, mustard seeds, green chile, and 4 tablespoons of water. Add the paste to the yogurt mixture, then fold in the mango slices. Season with salt, to taste, and mix well. Transfer to a serving bowl.
