This is really a recipe for home-made, loose jam, using preserving sugar. This means it has a double use; once you’ve made it for a pudding, use it the next morning to spread on your toast! The sauce goes very well with the Creamy Fried Slice or spooned into pudding basins for your next steamed sponge. Various fruits can be used, for example, blackberries, blackcurrants, rhubarb, raspberries, loganberries, apricots, strawberries, gooseberries or peaches.</
