  • About

A winter treat for those with cold feet, this supposedly also has aphrodisiac qualities. My experience tells me that this quality only seems to work on the young. In older generations, it induces sleep.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (250 mL/8 fl oz) water
  • cup

Method

Place the water, sugar and honey in a large saucepan and bring to the boil over a low heat. Add the cloves, cinnamon stick and vanilla bean and cook gently for 5 minutes. Add the citrus fruits, cook for another minute and then add the wine.

Heat until the liquid is hot to touch, add the brandy or Cognac, then ladle into warm mugs.
