Turkish cilbir is a breakfast favourite that we ate most mornings as our gang sailed along the Mediterranean coast one summer. Back in London it became a ritual to have Sunday brunch at Providores and Tapa Room, where Peter Gordon perfected this dish, so much of the credit goes to him for sharing the spoils with me. I love it with slices of grilled spicy chorizo or Turkish sucuk sausages, and I blur the lines somewhat by adding a dollop of harissa to extend the chilli warmth.
