A snack or a dessert, this dish is a favourite in Thailand where, wrapped in banana leaves, it is sold in lidded baskets – also made from leaves – from street stalls. But they don’t have those in Australia. The rice is tacky to the touch – just pick it out with your fingers, roll it into a ball, coat it with sesame seeds and eat it with the fruit. Or you could serve it wrapped in banana leaves, which you can buy from some oriental stores.
