Ingredients

  • sliced bread fingers - enough to cover a suitably sized pie dish twice over
  • apples, peeled, cored and sliced - to fill the pie dish
  • brown sugar - about 1 coffee cup</

Method

Fry the bread fingers in butter until crisp and golden.

Fry the apple slices in butter with the brown sugar, lemon juice and cinnamon until they are thick and sticky.

Cover the base of the pie dish with half the fried bread. Cover with the apple mixture. Now cover the apple with the rest of the fried bread. Sprinkle over lots more brown sugar and a few knobs of butter. Bake in a
