A brilliant dessert when the cupboard is really bare and you dare not admit that the deepfreeze is full of blackforest gateaux.
Put the chip pan oh the gas.
Cut the crusts off the sandwiches and slice into quarters. Dip in the batter and fry till golden. Dredge liberally in the caster sugar and serve. You've just made the best doughnuts in town!
