An oldie, but a goodie! This is real comfort food. If you prefer fresh veggies, use 1 lb (500 g) green beans, 2 cups broccoli florets and 2 cups sliced mushrooms.
Cook beans and broccoli according to package directions, undercooking slightly. Drain well. (If using fresh veggies, stir-fry them quickly in 1 Tbsp oil until tender-crisp.)
Slicer: Slice water chestnuts, using firm pressure. Combine with beans, broccoli and mushrooms in a lightly greased 9- × 13-inch glass baking dish. Mix well.
