Pita is also known as “pocket bread.” This fat-free Middle Eastern bread is popular for falafel, sandwiches and wraps.

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp sugar
  • ¼ cup warm water (105°F to 115°F)

Method

In measuring cup, dissolve 1 tsp sugar in ¼ cup warm water. Sprinkle yeast over and let stand for 8 to 10 minutes, until foamy. Stir to dissolve.

Steel Blade or Dough Blade: (Use dough cycle if your machine has one.) Place flour and salt in processor. Add dissolved yeast and process 8 to 10 seconds to mix. Start machine and drizzle lukewarm water through feed tube directly onto f
