This recipe was a specialty of my late mother-in-law, Rella Gilletz. It’s an oldie but a goodie, with a wonderful caramel flavor. It’s very high in carbs, so be careful with portion sizes.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup sugar
  • ½ cup boiling water
  • ½ cup

Method

Preheat oven to 350°F.

Melt ½ cup sugar in heavy skillet on medium heat until clear and dark brown, stirring constantly to prevent sugar from burning. Remove from heat and slowly and carefully stir in boiling water, or mixture may splatter. Return mixture to heat and simmer unt
