This is a variation of the fruitcake my mother made for my wedding. Fruitcake will last for several years if properly stored. Sometimes it lasts even longer than the marriage!

Preheat oven to 275°F.

Pour boiling water over raisins and cranberries to cover completely. Let stand for 5 minutes. Drain well; pat dry. Place in a very large mixing bowl. Add candied mixed fruits.
