This light, but filling, Nepali version of meatballs that we call bari are sometimes shaped into patties and deep-fried. They can be served as a mid-afternoon snack, appetizer, or as a supplement to a Nepali meal with any variety of chutney or garnish. This dish can also be made using ground pork, goat meat, water buffalo, turkey or chicken.
