Traditionally in Nepal, our family prepares kheer with govindbhog rice, an aromatic, delicate, medium-grain rice similar in flavor to basmati but with smaller grains. Kheer can be made with any variety of white rice of your preference, and each variety will impart its own unique flavor and texture. Kheer is associated not only with auspicious occasions and religious ceremonies, but is also enjoyed regularly as a popular sweet dessert.
