Begin making Rumtopf in the summer, and in 2-3 months you can start to enjoy this wonderful fruit compote.
Mix the rum with the sugar and spices and add the strawberries. Put the mixture in a jar, cover and keep it in a cool, dark place. When new fruits are in season (blueberries, cherries, peaches, apricots), clean them, cut them up and add to the container, topping up with more sugar and rum to cover.
