When driving to Mount Etna in Sicily, we passed vineyards, citrus groves, ancient stone farmhouses, and rural Sicilian farmland known for its honey production, an ingredient we saw used in both sweet and savory dishes in the area. After taking in the breathtaking vista from the volcano’s snowy peak, we took the 1-hour drive back down to the ocean and ended the day with a sunset walk along the water in the small town of Santa Maria La Scala.
