Saint Hildegard von Bingen always recommended starting the day with a warm cereal of dinkel wheat. She advocated that it provided all the necessary healthy nutrients to start the day. Her original recipe, rather surprisingly called for the addition of galangal, a root said to strengthen the immune system and “a couple of pinches of Bertram powder”, a plant similar to chamomile, that aids digestion.
