Madame Loîchet, one of our favorite maraîchiers (market gardeners) in the region, is a legend among produce lovers here. She inherited an enormous garden from her family, and from the time she was a girl just Manon’s age, she brought beautiful peonies, lilacs, and all sorts of vegetables to our market in Beaune from her plot right in town.
