Papa Pignolet was my grandfather, who died many years before I was born. In 1883 he arrived in Australia from the island of Mauritius, with my great grandmother and his four sisters. His full name was Edmund Max Pignolet de Fresne and he held the title of Count. Apart from keeping the accounts for the family, his time seems to have been occupied by his passion for cooking.
