To be honest, pierogi with prunes weren’t my favorite growing up. My grandma used to make these every Christmas Eve, mostly to spoil my uncle, who can easily eat a dozen of them. She puts a beautiful whole dried plum in a piece of dough and cooks it, but I prefer to blend the prunes to a smooth paste flavored with orange and cinnamon. Chopped walnuts add a pleasant contrast to these soft dumplings.
