Shop-bought apple sauce usually contains sugar along with gelling agents and other preservatives. Make your own at home with just apples and water – super simple. It’s great to make in bulk and keep in the freezer.

Ingredients

  • 650 g red apples (about 6)
  • 200 ml water if skins left on,

Method

  1. Chop the apples and remove the cores. You can leave the skins on if you like. I prefer to leave them on as it is easier, plus you are not losing the nutrition. However, bear in mind that the apple sauce will have a slight pink colour if the skins are left on.
