  • a little butter, for greasing
  • 500 g/1 lb 2

Method

Preheat the oven to 180°C/350°F/Gas 4 and butter a small ovenproof dish. Peel the potatoes, then cut them into 5mm/¼in slices using a mandolin. Put in a bowl and cover with cold water to prevent them from discolouring. Warm the cream, onion, garlic and thyme in a small saucepan.
