This is an easy dish to make, though it does take a bit of time to shell and reassemble the clams for baking. Your payoff will be to see the happy clams you make of your friends!

Choose clams that are at least 1½ to 2 inches across. Before cooking, discard any clams with cracked shells or shells that won’t close when tapped; I usually buy a handful extra in case I do need to discard a few.<
