My grandmother, who I lovingly called Nani, was the kindest, gentlest and most nurturing person I have ever known. Her wonderful qualities manifested in her food. She was a homemaker but had a scholarly, almost enlightened aura because she was so well read, aching to know more about everything around her, which made it easy for her to connect with all generations in the family.
