A vegan version of the British classic steak and kidney pie that definitely will not disappoint. This is one of my favourite recipes to win over meat-eaters.

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 red onion, thinly sliced
  • 3 garlic cloves, crushed

Method

  1. Heat the oil in a large saucepan and sauté the onion and garlic for 5 minutes, until softened. Add the balsamic vinegar, yeast extract or miso paste, tomato purée and mushrooms and cook for a further 8 minutes.
