The perfect, crumbly scone is the pinnacle of afternoon tea, as well as being my favourite thing to bake and eat. Have them plain, with fruit or other flavourings and serve with some jam and homemade vegan clotted cream.

Ingredients

  • 475 g/1 lb 1 oz ( cups) self-raising (self-rising) f

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C fan/200°C/400°F/gas 6 and line a baking tray with greaseproof paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and sugar. Add the butter a teaspoon at a time and rub into the flour with your fingertips.
