Greek Salad

Crossing the Albanian border, we travel next to Greece. Greeks call their country Hellas or Ellada, but its official name is the Hellenistic Republic. Instead of having a grand celebration for someone’s birthday, they have a celebration for their “Name Day.” In the Orthodox Church, every day is dedicated to a saint, and if you’re named after one, then there is quite a large gathering with family and friends. If you are eighteen years old, it is against the law for a Greek citizen not to vot
