This goes so well with rich, fatty meat like fried pork chops or sausage.

Ingredients

  • 3 apples (a crisp, sweet, and slightly tart apple such as Granny Smith)
  • 2 shallots
  • 2

Method

Peel, core, and dice the apples. Peel and dice the shallots. Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat and add the apples, shallots, and thyme; saute for about 7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apples are tender. Add the vinegar, stir in the syrup, and season with salt and pepper. If the sauce is too thick, add some water.

Eat warm or cold.
