This is a great Sunday lunch starter, packed with flavour - simple fish cakes with a twist that are a great way for kids to enjoy fresh fish. They are also an ideal canapé if you make them smaller.

You could of course use an alternative fish such as smoked haddock, but kippers have a really delicious flavour. They lap up the garlicky mayo and set the tone for a stonking Sunday roast to follow.
