This is my ultimate winter comfort food. If you are in a rush then feel free to skip the first step and not fry the beef, but if you have a few minutes to spare then it’s worth doing as it really does help seal in the flavour.

Ingredients

  • ½ tbsp oil
  • 500 g diced beef
  • 1 onion, di

Method

  1. Heat the oil in a large frying pan and add the beef. Cook for a few minutes until all sides have browned.
  2. Add the beef to the slow cooker along with the rest of the ingredients and stir well.
  3. Cook on high for 4-5 hours or low for 5-6 hours.
  4. Serve with mashed potato.
