The name of the prophet Ezekiel in the title of this dish gives away its likely Jewish origins. It’s also quintessentially Italian, with tomatoes, olives, fresh herbs and red wine. I have barely changed the recipe from the version I first saw in La Cucina nella Tradizione Ebraica by the Giuliana Ascoli Vitali-Norsa and Jewish women’s association Adei-Wizo from Padova, as it’s just perfect.
