Nonna Bianca’s Strawberries with Lemon and Sugar

Nonna Bianca used to make these strawberries as soon as they were in season in spring. Instead of rinsing them in water, she used white wine, to give extra flavour; I do the same today. She served them alongside her lemon sponge - a perfect combination.
