Almost every Korean meal starts with steamed pearly white rice. It is the element that grounds and completes the rest of the meal. One can make a whole meal simply by pairing a bowl of rice with some kimchi or seasoned vegetables and roasted seaweed to wrap it all together. Or it can be part of a much more elaborate meal.
