Here is one of my pantry staples. Burying a split vanilla bean in a jar of granulated sugar creates an awesome vanilla-scented sugar that I often use in place of regular sugar in baking recipes. It is also wonderful dusted over French toast and Puff Pastry Twists or sprinkled atop cookies, cakes, and fresh fruits.
