Dogh is an Afghani yoghurt drink that is usually enjoyed either after a meal, or with lunch on a hot summer day. Served cold, it has a crisp, refreshing quality thanks to the cucumber and mint, which beautifully complement the creaminess of the yoghurt.

Preparation 10 minutes

  • 400 g (14 oz) plain yoghurt
  • 500 ml (17 fl oz/2 cups) chilled water
  • 1 large telegraph (long) cucumber, chopped into small cubes
  • ΒΌ bunch mint, chopped
  • a pinch of salt

Mix together the yoghurt and water. Add the cucumber, mint and salt and stir well to combine.

Chill until ready to serve, or serve immediately over ice.
