Brown Sugar Shortbread

I created these shortbread cookies for my son, Hayden. I can’t help but think of him clapping and smiling while I roll out dough and sing,

“Pat-a-cake, pat-a-cake, baker’s man,

Bake me a cake as fast as you can;

Pat it, prick it, and mark it with ‘H,’

Put it in the oven for ‘Hayden’ and me.”
