A four-and-a-half-year-old little girl named Lily dreamt up these cookies. She got the brilliant idea of lemon cookies stuck in her head, so I went to the kitchen and created this recipe in her honor. They are bright and lemony and use both lemon juice and zest in the cookie and the glaze.

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar

To Make the Cookies

  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • In a large bowl, mix melted butter and sugar together. Add the egg, lemon zest, lemon juice, and vanilla, and stir until thoroughly combined.
