  • About

Invented by Swiss doctor Dr Maximilian Bircher-Benner in about 1900 as a healthy meal for his patients, this raw porridge is surprisingly delicious. You can use any chopped nuts or dried fruits you like: dates and pecans or apricots and almonds work well. It makes a perfect breakfast if you are on the go.

Ingredients

  • 200 g/7 oz/2 cups jumbo oats
  • 450

Method

  1. Mix the oats, juice and cinnamon in a bowl. Cover and chill in the fridge overnight.
  2. In the morning, stir in the rest of the ingredients and serve in bowls, topped with fresh berries or other fruits.
