Crab Cakes with Kohlrabi and Apple Salad

Fresh crab is generally expensive but tinned crabmeat makes excellent crabcakes and is a lot quicker and easier to deal with. I like this salad because it is crunchy and slightly sweet, and it’s an excellent use of kohlrabi. Alternatives to kohlrabi are celeriac, celery or anything that goes well with apple – white cabbage or drained haricot beans, for example.
