This is the kind of food that doesn’t need much attention once you’ve served it – it sits well for a while and can be largely made in advance. The combination of zingy cabbage slaw and spicy, piping hot pastries is party food perfection to me.

Ingredients

For the samosas

  • 300 g (10½ oz) new potatoes, cut into rough 1.5cm (⅝in) chunks
  • Coconut oil, for frying and brushing

Method

Fill a saucepan with water and bring to the boil. Lower in the potato chunks and bring the water to the boil again. Boil for 8 minutes, until the potatoes are tender to the point of a sharp knife. Drain and allow to steam dry in a colander.
