A basic, very continental-flavoured dressing. Use dried shallots or onion as this helps the storage time of the dressing. Great on potato and pasta salads, fabulous on things like warm, cooked beans and drizzled on fried courgettes. Don’t miss the Maggi out. Thanks, Doris, for this one!


  • 2 tablespoons white wine vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 2


Put the vinegar, mustard, sugar, mayonnaise, tarragon, Maggi seasoning and dried onion into a bowl and gradually stir in the oils. Add salt and pepper to taste. Store as above.
