Years ago, driving to the French Alps for the winter ski season, watching every penny, we avoided the toll roads. We drove on the ‘route national’ through Reims, Macon, Dijon and Lyon. Dijon was where we allowed ourselves a treat. In the main square was a hotel/restaurant and there we ordered the ‘plat du jour’. This is my version of a most welcome feast.
