Very hot from a walk up the hill opposite the Alhambra in Granada, we found a small cafe in the shade. We ordered this salad to go with our sardines. The garlic dressing is hot – try it!

Ingredients

  • 2 Little gem lettuces
  • 4 cloves garlic, sliced finely
  • 2 tablespoons

Method

  1. Put the garlic into a frying pan with the oil and fry gently until the garlic is just golden-brown (not charred). Add the lemon juice and season with plenty of salt and pepper. Leave to one side until you are ready to serve.
  2. Meanwhile, cut the lettuces into 6 wedges each and lay in rows in a serving dish, slightly piled up. Just before serving heat the garlic d
