A decent chocolate tart is something to have in your repertoire. We have spent a long time trying to find one that works every time, can be made in a flash and requires no advanced cooking skills or special equipment. This is it!


  • 300–400 g ready made sweet pastry
  • 500 ml double cream
  • 1 t


  1. Line the flan tin with baking parchment. Roll out the pastry to a diameter of 25cm and gently ease into the tin. Prick all over the base with a fork.
  2. Pour the cream into a saucepan, bring to the boil and turn off the heat. Add the vanilla essence, sugar and chocolate and stir until melted.
  3. Beat the eggs into the cream/chocolate mixture.
