My first job after my training was to cook for the British Ambassador in Sweden. I was really nervous before I went in case he was into hunting and brought home a whole moose or something equally large for me to deal with, but of course he did no such thing. We had official functions, but unusually the Ambassador had a young family, so a lot of my time was spent catering for them, which included lots of family suppers and cakes for tea.
