A friend was coming over to France and I wanted some black onion seeds to make some panch puren for my store. Poppy seeds are what she arrived with, and lots of them! I did, over time, try them in every recipe. I like them in this cake because there is something mysterious about a cake full of crunchy little black seeds from the inside of a flower.
