We did not eat a lot of cake when we were small, but I seem to remember my mother baking all the time for fetes and things. As well as the fruit loaf there were rows and rows of these ready to be dipped in chocolate (we were allowed to help with that bit – yum, yum). I never make these unless I make a load as it seems an effort to get out a piping bag, but they are worth it. Every time I make them, I wonder why I don’t do it more often.
