A very naughty but nice treat, this is great for kids to make and give as gifts. You can pack them in little boxes or cellophane bags tied with a piece of ribbon. (But do make extra and keep a few back to share.) You’ll get the best flavor if you use chocolate with more than 70 percent cocoa solids; avoid cheap imitations.

Ingredients

  • 6 ounces dark chocolate, 70% cocoa solids, broken into small pieces
  • 3 tablespoons butter

Method

  1. Put the chocolate, butter and golden syrup in a large heatproof bowl. Rest the bowl over a pan of gently simmering water, so the bottom of the bowl does not touch the water. Stir occasionally until the chocolate melts. (Alternatively, you can melt the ingredients in a microwave.)
